Cytogenetic Study on Benign Cystic Teratomas of Ovary

Abstract
|
|
|
Benign cystic teratomas of the ovary or dermoid cysts are the most common type of teratomas which occur in women during the years of active ovulation.
Much interest has been shown over the years in the origin of these most common tumors.
Comparatively few studies utilizing chromosomal analysis have been made to determine its genesis. This relative lack of data prompted us to investigate using cytogenetic methods 6 cases of benign cystic teratomas of the ovary- which showed normal diploid female chromosomes (46, XX).
Following will be our report with a brief review of the literature.
